purity, had been found in that neighborhood, after-

Three highway robbers have-been apprehend-'
ed in Tennessee. They were well armed, hav-
ing eight’pistol's,’seven of which were loaded.
They fitted themselves out at New-Orleans, and
had robbed three persons, and it is feared they
have scaled some of their acts with blood. They.-
were taken by surprize; the next day‘, before they
were committed to jail, their leader, a man of,
great muscular strength and desperate courage,
burstcd his cords and attempted his escape: his
guard fired on him and missed ; and after a chase
of a mile, one of his pursuers overtook and
wounded him, it is supposed mortally.
In VVoodford county, Kentucky, Nathaniel Pe-
ters and a Mr. Darnell, cousins, had a quarrel,
which produced a personal rencontre. After it
had subsidezl, Peters laid himself on the bed to
take a nap, when Darnell entered and split "his

In New-York, a man, with his two wives, -was
lately brought before the Police, and on examin-’
ation (being a German by birth) said he married
