provided the person so applying shall first give
bond with good surety in the sum of three hun-
drcddollars to the acceptance of the civil author-
ity in the town in which he resides, payable to
the treasurer of this state, conditioned that the
person applying for such license will duly pay to
the clerk of said board of civil authority, the dil-
ties imposed by this act, on or before the first
Mondays ofOctobcr, January, April, and July in
each year; antrshall in all other respects coin-
ply with [he requirements of this act. And the
clerk ofany board of civil authority, shall be en-
iitled to receive the sum of fifty cents for ‘every
such license by him signed, to be paid llie per»

at Georgetown, in Kentucky, the head ofllie table

A man has been arrested and confined in the
prison at Whitestown, for niakiiig a hole in the
Canal to let the water off. Thepunishment for
such an offence, is, payment of - all damages, and
imprisonment in the state prison for a term not

., ous combustion ocfihrred on Wednesday evening
in this city. ‘Thcxdifegs of linseed oil having
been thrown on a dung heap. Caused‘ 3 flame IO
bréak out, which communicated with some hoards
connected with the heap; and had it taken place
in the night, a great conllagration-must have been
the consequence. It is fairito presume that ma-
ny ofthe destructive fires originate-from similar
