ror has commenced the publication in that paper
of a series of curious extracts tal-zen from the an-
"cient records of the colony of Connecticut, com-
mencing as early as l6S6. The editor of the
Mirror has it in his power to collect at vast number
‘of interesting facts and particulars, whi_ch_.wei'c
never placed on the records of the colony. ‘
lnaiiuscripts in the possession of the ancient
\Vyllys family, which escaped the hands of the
historian, the late Dr‘. Trumbull, would furnish
‘amusement for a whole season-
The editor proposes to give, at full length,
‘an account of the trial of the lVitc/Ice in Connec-
ticut. _ The papers relative to this subject have
lieéii lost for more than a century, and the gene-
raf sentiment now is, that no trials ofthis kind

The following decree, made at the first Gene-
ral Court held at Hartford, in April, 1636, shows

Connecticut grew and multiplied with such rapid-

‘ it is ordered that me young man that is not
married nor hath any servant, and be not: public
