General VIVAS, the Spanish Minister, left Phil-
adelphia on Saturday morning, on his way to
VVashington.

Adore Pirates sentenced to 6: lzanged.—Four
persons, convicted of piracy, have been sentenced
to be hung at Savannah. The 28th inst is the day
fixed for their execution.

by the Assembly of New-York, for the purpose
of examining the official conduct of the Judge,
have reported, that they ‘ are of opinion that there
is nothing in the official ‘conduct of the Hon.VVm.
W. Van N658, that requires the interposition of
the constitutional powers of this house.’

The Duel.--The correspondence that led to the
fatal rencontre between commodores Barron and
Decatur, is published. It is of great length, and
ofa private nature. We may publish it hereafter.

Decatur’.s~ last moment’s.—-A letter_from VVash-.
ington, after deploring the death of the gallant’
Decatur, observes, that after his wound ‘ he lived
long enough to declare his conviction of the im-
proper manner in which he consented to the
meeting, which resulted in his premature disso-
lution, and throw himself upon the mercy of that
God, whose laws he had thus violated.’-—-Colum.

paratory to the catastrophe which has befallen
him. He has also, kind, even in his cruelty,
drawn around the fond wife whom he was pre-
paring to leave, all those friends whose kindness
was most likely to mitigate the calamity which
threatened her. It is said a perfect reconcilia-
tion took place between the parties on the field,
after they had fallen, both wounded as was sup-

VVc hear that Com. Barron is fast recovering
from his wound, though the ball has not yet been
extracted, and that the irritation is considerably
abated by the discharge of two small pieces of
woolen that had entered the body.

Indian Treaty.-—A treaty between the United
States and the Chippewa nation of Indians has
been ratified by the President and Senate. It
cedcs a large tract of land in the territory ofMich-
igan, making however, many reservations in fa-
vor of certain chiefs. In consideration of this
cession the tribe is to receive an annuity of 1000
dollars in silver, forever. "

Mr. Jonathan Knowlton, of Gloucester, had a
ball drop from his back last week, which he had
received on his retreat from Bunker Hill battle,
in the American Revolution.—Boston/rajzer.

In the case of VVM. COLEMAN, Esq. editor of
the Evening Post, against Henry B. Hagerman,for
assault and battery, the jury on Saturday, brought
in a verdict of _/our t/zoasa-ncl dollars damages for
the plaintiff.

A foreignev, named Martin, on the 3d inst.
stole from several trunks near Boston, money, 8:c.

Point, in a room alone. VVhen the prison keep-
er entercd his apartment the next morning, Mar-
tion was found burnt to death, and his bed ant‘:
clothing burnt to cinders. He was intoxicated
when committed, and is supposed to’ have drawn
his bed near the :.=‘.ove, and that it took fire while
he was asleep.

Three persons, recently from Canada, have
been apprehended at Phil:rdclphia,_ and commit-
ted to prison, charged with having been concern-
ed in the late robberies in that city. Many watch-
es and other articles were found in their possess-
ion. ‘ '

The New-Tlieatre at Philadelphia was destroy-
ed by fire on Sunday evening the 2d inst. and the
adjoining buildings greatly injured. This with-
out doubt, was the work of an incendiary—it
having twice before been set on fire. And on
the night of the 6th, an attempt was made to set
fire to the Merchant’s Coffee House in that city.

A Charleston paper mentions that a negro but
was re_ceutly struck by lightning during the night,
near that city, which set it on fire, and was con-
sumed with four negroes in it. Also, that a ca-
noe, with a negro man and woman, and 3 small
children, was upset in \Vaudo river, and all, ex-
cept one of the girls, were drowned.

On the 23d ult.two young men were drowned
in attempting to cross the river in a boat at Scit-
uate, Mass.

28th March, an indented apprentice to the
Shoemaking business, named C/zarles Secley, aged
about 18 years, small of his age, black hair and
dark complexion. ‘Nhoever will apprehend and
return said boy to his master, shall be entitled to
the above reward, but no charges. All persons
are hereby forbid harboring or trusting him on
my account, as I will not pay any expense he
