A Britisli trading vessel has been fired into by '
a Spanish ship of war, oil‘ Cape St. Vincents U)’
which one passenger was killed, and two more
wounded ; the vessel received also coiisiderable
damage in the rigging and sails. She was after-

pologised, saying that a Patriot biig had taken a
Spanish frigate, with half a million of dollars on

Norfolk, informs"that about the 20th _ult. news
reached Maracaibo of the defeat of Gen. Muril-
lo at Columbuso, a small place a shozt distance up

munition, and clothing, but it was not probable it
would be filled. The Patriots were highly ela-

At a Court of Oyer and Terminer, held at Leb-
anon, (Penn.) on the 4th inst. came on the trial '
Christian D-achterman, of Millerstown, for the
murder of his son Jolimaged 19. It appeared in
evidence by the confession of the prisoner, that
about the dawn ofday on the 19th of May, he took
from a pile of stove wood, in the room where his
-son was asleep, a billet of walnut, and with it
gave the unfortunate victim several blows, which
caused "hisimmediate death.
