Suicide.---O_i1'the 22d ult. Om‘./1 Brock, keeper
of the Union Hotel in Richmond, Vir. was found
suspended toua beam in the building, by a’ strong
cord, and lifeless. The circumstances of this
tragical event are, that a man in a state of intoxi-
cation forced himselfinto the-hotel in an indecent
and improper manner. 1‘.-‘Ir.’ Brock: aftr:_I‘ using
pet-sttasive rneans to turn him into the street, was
compelled to strike him with his open hand one
or more blow. The man left the house, but soon
returned, with language and manner more inde-
cent than before. Mr. B. then took from him. a
-cane and gave‘ him some blows. The man re-
mained in the city several days,but made no com-.
plaint to the police oliicers. He then travelled
30 or 40 -miles on foot in the country, when Mr.
Brock was informed that the man had died, and
that his death had-been attributed to the‘beating';
Mr. B. then gave orders for the government of
the hotel, and went into the garret and hung him-
