At Boston, on the 4th inst. the coroner held an
inquest on the body of Joseph Arnold. 11 Clllld 10
years of age. The verdict was that he came to
his death by lrauging, but that he hung himself

Large Snak:r.——A strange circumstance is said
to have taken place a few days since in the neigh-
borhood of this city. A woman passing along a
path through it rye field, sat clown on the side of
the path, when immediately she was seized round
the waist by a huge black snake, which raised its
frightful head in a threatenirig attitude, mouth
open, on a level with her face, with its eyes fixed
upon her countenance. The screams ofthe wo-
man brought a black man to her assistance, who
resol,utely grasped the monster‘ by the neck with
one hand and with the other seized its tail, and
while unwinding its coils. the woman. by his di-.

A Caution.
TOLEN from the subscriber, on or about
the 7th of April last, from on board the
sloop Vermont, of Norwalk, a note of hand, ex-
ecutediby the subscriber, in favor of Aaron Ly-
on, or order, for thirty-two dollars and fifty cents,
payable in sixty days from date ; and sundry oth-
er articles. The note was stolen by TIMOTHY
Bi«:Nt-‘Ioic'r, formerly of South-Salem ; and it is
supposed the other articles were taken by the
same person. Benedict is about fifty-seven years
of age, five feet ten inches high, grey hair, and
a very grave look and smooth tongue; and it is
suspected he has’ executed other notes of the
same import. A reward of Ten Dollars and
pre-bending said Benedict, and securing him in
any jail in the United States, and giving inform-
ation thereof to the subscriber, at Norwalk, state
