ing out directly opposite to each other on the side
of the stalk at certain distances from the bottom

where the leafis attached to the stalk, a branch
or twig grows out above the leaf, bearing small
violet colored blossotns inte1'mixed with small
leaves. That species of scullcap which spreads
into several branches, and produces blossomsonly
ou the top of the same, is ofaspurious kind and
