tatory, which Tobacco, combined with other in-
gredients,is capable ofproducing. The common
Scoth snuff is not only destitute of fine flavor,
but is universally allowed to be injurious to the
head and stomach, and sooner or later effects the
transparency, and colour ofthe skin. The coarse
black snulfs, instead of clearing and stimulating
the olfactory nerves, serve but to obstruct’ and
deaden them ; and in process of time, by step-
ping the passages, has an evident effect upon the
