Court assembled, That when any person or per-
sons shall become poor, and unable to support ‘and
provide for him, or herself at any town other
than that to which he or she belongs, or in which
_ such pauper or paupers statedly residez it shall
be the duty of the person at whose ho 3: such
poor person may be, within five days, to give no-
tice thcreof to one of the Selectmen of the town
wherein such poor person may be;_ and unless‘
such noti be-given,lthe town to which such-‘poor
person be ngs, shall not ‘be liable for any ‘support
that may ave been furnished previously to the
giving notilce as aforesaid; A’ ‘
§ 2. Be itfurtlter enacted, That it shall be lhe
duty of the Selectmen of the several towns in this
State, whenever any person not an inhabitant of
such town shall become poor, and unable to. sup-
port, and provide for himself, or herself to furnish
for suchperson immediate and necessary support;
and give information to the town to which such
-person belongs, if known, as soon as may be. .
§3. Be itfurt/zc'_1' enacted, That if any Selecti-
man, after notice shall have been given to him as
aforesaid, shall refuse, or neglect to furnish such
immediate and necessary support for such per‘-
son, and give information" thereof to the town to
which such person may belong, if known, such
Selectman shall be liable" to pay, and forfeit the
sum of seven dollars, one half to him whoshall
prosecute the same to effect, and the other half
to the treasury of -the town to which such Select‘-
